I was hiking in Torrey Pines States Natural Reserve, which is absolutely beautiful. I particularly like this shot of my hiking group:

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/640 s, f/11.0, ISO 200
…but, there is not much in the way of subjects available in the regular landscape, so it challenged me to create some nice shots without a clear subject to anchor the composition. The sky was also almost completely cloudless, which left me with nothing but the great blue expanse overhead.
Some of my shots attempted to use the shapes within the landscape:

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/200 s, f/11.0, ISO 100

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/250 s, f/11.0, ISO 100

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/320 s, f/11.0, ISO 100
While others attempted to divide the frame itself into large, simple, textured shapes:

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/400 s, f/11.0, ISO 100

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/400 s, f/11.0, ISO 100
I’m definitely not as satisfied with these shots as some of my other landscapes, but I learned a lot!
Some bonus shots from near the AirBnB we stayed in: for some reason, there were apiaries set up in the middle of nowhere, and they were arranged in a semicircle around a table and chairs:

NIKON Z 7, NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8
1/80 s, f/11.0, ISO 200
I particularly like the aesthetics of this grill (in the same spot!) as nature slowly overtakes it:

1/100 s, f/11.0, ISO 200
